Arizona Duck Hunting
Arizona Duck Hunting is unlike anywhere else in the world. Hunting in Arizona will take you from the saguaros of the Sonaran desert, up to the heights of 8,000 feet of the ponderosas. No where else will you find such diverse hunting. Hunts will occur on small stock ponds, creeks, rivers, and even on large reservoirs. Whether the hunt needs a boat or a long walk, Desert Wings Guide Service will get you to where the birds are. Hunts are customizable to fit your needs. If you can only hunt a few miles from home or work, Desert Wings will pre-scout and set your hunt up.
A normal hunt generally starts around 4:30 am and lasts till 12 pm. Almost all hunts will start over decoys. We also do some pass shooting and pond jumping. Pond jumping is usually later in the morning just pending on the area that is being hunted. We use every necessary tool to put the birds in the bag.
Before you decide to book a hunt, you will need to have your Arizona hunting license and State and Federal waterfowl stamps. You are required to bring your own firearm, steel shot ammunition, and full camouflage. Chest waders are also a good item to have. They will give you more access to hunting areas. Without waders you are limited to the areas you can hunt, meaning the less chance you have given yourself for a successful hunt.
The use of your own hunting dog is permitted. Please inform in advance if you plan to use your own dog. Dogs that bark, break, or can not sit still in the blind will NOT be tolerated. If you have any question of your dog’s ability, it should not be in the field.
Contact Desert Wings or Arizona Game and Fish for seasons and regulations and any other information.
